Lorène Picard is a design researcher, holder of a PhD in design and art sciences. She is interested in the relationships between visual arts and digital dematerialisation, and the sociocultural ideologies embedded in the World Wide Web. Her research falls within a materialist critique of digital modernity, where creativity and imagination are essential levers for understanding socio-technical transformations.
She has participated in international exhibitions, notably the Biennale Internationale Design In in Saint-Étienne and Ars Electronica in Linz, and was a member of the editorial board of Azimuts. Design Art Recherche.
She is currently a researcher at the Centre de Recherche en Design (UR 201923272). She is also affiliated with the PePR Ensemble — France 2030 Collaboration Numérique research programme.
She taught research for 5 years within the design department of the École Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay, where she held the position of Deputy Director of Studies, actively contributing to academic and pedagogical life.
